In what promises to be a truly unique theatrical experience, members of Our Lady of Hope School Drama Club in Middle Village will perform a short comedy production to highlight the importance of healthy eating among young people. The production is part of Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York’s community outreach program with Kohl’s Department Stores aimed at curbing childhood obesity and promoting health and wellness in local communities, especially good nutrition.
The Drama Club’s original musical comedy skit is entitled “Food for Thought.” Complete with musical numbers that parody everything from “Gypsy” to “Call Me Maybe,” the 20-minute presentation will offer its audience an understanding of the tough time youngsters have in making healthy food choices in school.
Obesity continues to threaten an entire generation of young people, putting them at increased risk of serious illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure and liver disease.
