City Harvest, in partnership with New York City Housing Authority, is relocating its Brooklyn Mobile Market to a larger location to accommodate a greater number of people. The need for emergency food remains strong and the new location includes an interior space which will help put fresh produce on the tables of more families in Brooklyn. The grand opening will be held on Saturday July 7 th from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM, with a ribbon-cutting at 9:15 AM. Activities for the day will include cooking demonstrations, nutrition education activities, and fitness demonstrations conducted by the Bedford YMCA, and the Woodhull Medical Center will have their mobile testing van on site offering blood pressure testing and diabetes screening. The Bed Stuy Mobile Market will be held twice a month, on the first Saturday and third Wednesday, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. City Harvest’s Mobile Market is part of Healthy Neighborhoods, programs designed to relieve food insecurity, build knowledge about healthy dietary choices and increase access to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables.Distributing 10,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, Mobile Markets put fresh produce directly into the hands of hungry New Yorkers who need it most. Members of the Bed Stuy Mobile Market include pre-registered residents of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments and surrounding communities.
