In ancient Rome, government attempted to curry favor with the masses by offering free bread and circuses. Today, we have Coiuncilman Mark Weprin presenting free movies in Cunningham Park.
Why was there no disclaimer identifying the funding source accompanying advertisements for "Council Member Mark S. Weprin presents "Free Movies In Cunningham Park" which appeared in some Queens weekly newspapers.
Only the advertising sales representative for the papers know who wrote the check to pay for the ad. Is Councilman Weprin paying for both the ad and free movies out of his own pocket?
Or is he using taxpayers dollars out of his annual share of several hundred million in member item projects doled out by his benefactor, Council Speaker and Democratic mayoral candidate Christine Quinn?
