A technical foul and a steal in the last 30 seconds of regulation allowed Tranquility to force overtime in a Heroes League championship game Thursday night.

Tranquility, who trailed by as many as 10 points in the third quarter never gave up, hanging on just long enough and forcing a late game steal to beat the Dragons 39 to 37, in a game which was not decided until the final 10 seconds of overtime.

Wioth the game tied, Tranquility’s Matthew Bianchi stole a pass and hit J.C. Medina for a layup to seal the win.

It was really Tranquility’s full-court press that hurt the Dragons throughout the game, however. Ray Amaro, Tranquility coach said after the game that the kids had so little left in the tank, but were able to use the press as a motivator.

“J.C. and Matt worked very well together for us today, but we won as a team and we love to press,” he said. “We got very lucky.”

The high scorers for Tranquility were Matthew Bianchi with 15 points and Joseph Medina with 14 points.

The high scorers for the Dragons were Justin Angevine and Michael Huvert with 14 points each, in a game that was as thrilling as they come.
