How To Spend Your Super Bowl
How To Spend Your Super Bowl
Hey, sportsfans, if you check out page 13 in our “BEST OF THE BEST” section this week, we proudly bring you Part Two of our popular feature, “BEST PLACES TO CATCH THE GAME,” which takes a look at some of our favorite area sports bars – establishments we heartily recommend, whether you’re a one-time Super Bowl visitor, or year-round patron.

What’s that you say? You’re thinking of hosting your OWN Super Bowl bash? Well, we’ve got a couple of tips for you along those lines, too!

First of all, you’re not doing anything without a great TV, but then, we’re pretty sure you know that. Did you further know that Super Bowl weekend is one of the primest, choicest weekends for out with the old-ing and in with the new-ing. Of TV’s, that is. Flatscreen, plasma, etc. are the way to go these days, and we can’t say enough good things about the folks at P.C. RICHARD & SON on Queens Boulevard. Anyway, that’s where we’d head. Great selection and great service, too! (P.C. RICHARD & SON, 113-14 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, (718) 896-0400)

Okay, now how on earth are you going to make your drab little den even remotely festive, the way your neighborhood sports bar is? If you ask us, www.FATHEAD.com is your answer. Whether you’re a fan of the JETS or the GIANTS or one of the – ahem – teams actually participating in The Big Game, FATHEAD makes life-size replicas of some of your favorite players. Incredibly easy to apply – and even easier to remove – this is the way to go, trust us on this. (And make sure you check out our website, www.QueensLedger.com for even more on FATHEAD!)

Lastly, some pretzels and a couple of bags of DORITOS are just not going to cut it for a top-flite event like the Super Bowl. And it’s way too cold to be out flipping burgers or sausages or whatever. Know what, how about a couple of orders of Hot Wings – yeah, that’s the ticket! We’re pretty big fans of the ones at O’NEILL’S in Maspeth, and they’ve got a pretty wide-ranging delivery area, too. (O’NEILL’S, 64-21 53rd Drive in Maspeth, (718) 672-9696)

Dude, we almost forgot the beer!!! That’s one way to have your guests offering up a quick hi-and-bye, eh? Once again, when you’re talking Super Bowl, you maybe want to amp up the selection a little bit beyond the old “This Bud’s For You” tradition. (And you’ll probably want to amp up your quantities, too!) That’s where a place like COMMUNITY BEVERAGE can really help out – a great selection, some really reasonable prices, and really helpful service, too. What could be better! (COMMUNITY BEVERAGE, 80-04 Grand Avenue in Elmhurst, (718) 458-5254)

Hey, now you’re all set, right? Wait, one last thing on the agenda, though – how ‘bout extending an invitation to all of us here at QL, no? Operators are standing by…
