St. John’s recruiting class continues to take shape, as this week the Red Storm announced the signing of Hempstead point guard Malik Stith to a National Letter of Intent. Stith joins previous St. John’s commitments Omari Lawrence and Dwight Howard.

Stith, who played for Brighton Academy last season, the same prep school that current Johnnies Paris Horne and Justin Burrell hail from, averaged 13 points and 6 assists per game while leading the Wolverines to a 25-11 record and a New England Preparatory School Athletic Council championship.

While Stith is coming to St John’s, it appears that phenom Lance Stephenson won’t. The according to various sources, the Red Storm have virtually no chance at signing Stephenson, whose first choice is to play with Bill Self in Kansas. Arizona, Memphis, and Kentucky are listed as other possible destinations for Stephenson. (Nigel Chiwaya)
