How refreshing to read "LIC becoming attractive place for small start-ups" (October 25). It is the small technical start-up companies in Long Island City that combined have opened up dozens of companies creating hundreds of jobs.
This success formula is duplicated in other Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods, New York City, and around the nation. It is the millions of small businesses that comprise our nation’s real economic engine creating jobs that keep our economy moving.
They provide gainful employment to construction contractors and their employees building their local establishments. They also pay taxes like the rest of us. These revenues pay for all of the essential municipal services you and I count on.
All of these businesses provide gainful employment, and each entrepreneur built their respective new business on their own with no “stimulus” funding from Uncle Sam.
