The Queens Theatre is continuing to establish itself as an entertainment destination for Queens with a diverse lineup for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

"Our wonderful new season contains both classic and premiere productions sure to delight our loyal patrons and new audiences - including a full array of drama, comedy, music, dance and children's theater," said Taryn Sacramone, executive director of Queens Theatre. “As always at Queens Theatre, the upcoming season promises to be distinct, compelling and utterly memorable, with something for all audiences."

This season’s theatre series will include an adaptation of the popular Jane Austen story “Sense and Sensibility.”

Another exciting performance will be “Frida Libre” in November. “Frida Libre” will explore the life of Frida Kahlo, one of the most influential women in Latin American history. The show was written and performed by Canadian-Colombian actress Flora Martínez who will perform the show in both Spanish and English on alternating nights. After each performance, Martínez will also have talkbacks with audience members.

Queens Theatre-produced plays, “Jimmy and Carolyn” by James Walsh and “Brooklyn ‘55” by Jeff Mandels, will debut.

“Both are funny, poignant new plays about complex family dynamics, and the choices people make as they strive to move ahead with their lives,” Queens Theatre said in a statement.

The theatre’s dance series include performances by the Tango Fire Company of Buenos Aires, Pilobolus, RIOULT Dance NY, and BODYTRAFFIC, which was recently named “the company of the future” in Dance Magazine.

The Calpulli Mexican Dance Company will bring back the popular “Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)” performance for one performance on Sunday, October 29. According to the Queens Theatre, the show is “a captivating work about the unending relationship between the living and the departed featuring passionate live music, larger-than-life characters, and breathtaking dance for all ages.”

Titan Theatre Company, which will be in residence at Queens Theatre for a fourth season, will present Shakespeare's tragedy, “Richard III;” Dickens' “A Christmas Carol;” Euripides' “Medea;” and Shakespeare's comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing.”
