The Queens College women’s basketball team placed 17th in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 women’s basketball preseason poll.

A season ago, under the direction of head coach Bet Naumovski, the Knights won the East Coast Conference Championship, finishing with a record of 22-8 and earning a fifth seed in the East Region of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

The Knights return nine players from last season’s roster, and welcome five new additions. Leading the charge for QC is junior Madison Rowland, the reigning ECC Player of the Year.

Rowland put together one of the best seasons in conference history a season ago. In 29 games, she averaged 20.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Rowland also led all of Division II for the second time in as many seasons with 4.3 steals per game.

Additionally, the Knights return senior MacKenzie Rowland (12.9 ppg/8.8 rpg) and senior Kristen Korzevinski (10.1 ppg).

QC opens the 2015-16 campaign on Saturday, November 14, on the road against Philadelphia University.
