Guard, Bishop Ford
This week’s One to Watch is none other than Chaz Williams, 5-foot-8 point guard from Bishop Ford High school in Brooklyn. Last week, Williams signed a letter intent to attend Hofstra University after his graduation.
Williams who dedicated his success to his late father, is a speedy guard with great scoring ability and passing skills. The Pride took an early interest in Williams, and saw their infatuation grow when he averaged , from 21 points and 7 assists as a sophmore . Hofstra head coach Tom Pecora raved about Williams, saying “There are two great things about him: his energy, and his leadership. He’s a born leader.”
Williams turned down schools like Rutgers, St. Johns and South Florida to play for the Pride, and Pecora thinks that Williams will benefit from his choice. “It’s the best of both worlds. We’ve had a lot of success here over the past few years,” Pecora said. “But he’ll also get a great education. Plus he’ll be close to home.”
Pecora thinks that Williams has the chance to make an instant impact for the Pride next season. “I think he’ll contribute from the moment he steps on campus.”
