No respect

Dear Editor:

Today, it seems words such as "excuse me", "I am sorry" and "thank you" no longer exist in anybody's vocabulary. It used to be that if you held the door open for somebody or gave up your seat on a bus or train that person would respond kindly.

When somebody accidentally bumped into you on the street or in a store, the usual response would have been "I'm sorry” or "excuse me." Today,. if that happened someone might be punched in the face, stabbed or even shot.

There is a major lack of decency, respect and consideration in our society, and it is a real shame. Whatever happened to plain manners?
