In a few weeks, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy will be kicking off the 20th anniversary of its Movies With A View program.

The Conservancy first launched its summer programming in 2000 with the Movies with a View program. The program is now an example of the impact that the Brooklyn Bridge Park has on the community from education to culture to recreation.

Since 2000, more than 1,700,000 visitors have attended programming held at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Last year, more than five million visitors came between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

This year’s eight-week film series will feature sweeping views of the city skyline. The theme for 2019 is “Better the Second Time Around,” and will feature popular films shown over the series’ history, including "Crooklyn," "The Big Lebowski" and "It Happened One Night," among many others.

The festival returns to Pier 1 on Thursday evenings, from July 11th to August 29th. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the film starts at sundown (generally between 8-9pm). The pre-movie lineup includes a DJ and a short film curated by BAM Cinématek.

Movies With A View will have an amazing lineup of food options as well, with Smorgasburg bringing back crowd favorites such as Burger Supreme, Home Frite and Bona Bona Ice Cream. New vendors for 2019 will include Groundlings Pizza, Destination Dumplings, and Vayalo Cocina. Additional vendors, including beer and wine concessions, will be announced soon.

“The last 20 years of public programming has been an extraordinary journey for the Conservancy. We’re delighted to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Movies with a View and mark the Conservancy’s launch into free public programming this summer,” said Nancy Webster, executive director of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. “From immersive outdoor education, to family festivals, public theater, book readings, kayaking, seining, and more, we’re excited to share a full and vibrant lineup of events to celebrate this momentous year.”
