The Middle Village Chamber of Commerce and Middle Village Kiwanis cosponsored a Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at United Methodist Church on Metropolitan Avenue Saturday evening. The event included a free holiday raffle, the Christ the King Glee Club (pictured) and, of course, Santa Claus.

NOW IF WE COULD ONLY FOR ONCE, GET OUR SIDEWALKS, STREETS, AND GARBAGE CANISTERS CLEANED WEEKLY, IT WOULD BE NICE. RIDGEWOOD LOOKS SO NICE ALL THE TIME. BUT MIDDLE VILLAGE WITH 10 BANKS, PURPLE STRING LIGHTS HANGING OVER THE STREETS LOOKS LIKE A PIGS PEN. OUR LEADERS, AND POLITICIANS SHOULD PICK UP A BROOM OR TWO AND SHOW SANITATION HOW IT IS TO BE DONE. WE HAVE TO BE THE MOST FILTHY LOOKING AVENUE IN QUEENS.
