Q: I am starting to hear that the market is becoming soft. Should I wait to sell my home?

A. The best way to get an answer to this question is to discuss it with a real estate professional. Ask your agent for a report showing how the sales are going for your area. The agent should be able to tell you an average of the quarterly sales in both volume and price, so you can see how things are moving.

Besides this, you also need to look at your situation. If you are planning to move within a short amount of time, it’s usually not a good idea to try to predict when a market will be in recovery. So keeping your move on hold is something only you can decide.

In many cases, it might be better to sell before there is a further drop in the market. If the market it “trending” down, now could be the right time. You might also consider where you plan to move. If you are getting a break on the purchase price, it may make your decision easier.
