CEO of Stamm International Corp and former LaGuardia Community College Foundation board director, she knows how to get things done.
Stamm was recently honored at the LaGuardia Foundation’s Innovative Leadership Award reception for her outstanding work fundraising and bringing more scholarships to students. With Stamm’s fundraising efforts, LaGuardia managed to raise over $700,000 for scholarships.
Now more students won’t have to worry about paying for school, and can focus on education to help them succeed with their careers in their future lives.
“I know what it is like to work and go to school; what it is like when every dollars counts,” Stamm said at the reception.
“Much of who I became was the result of receiving scholarships,” she said. “Scholarship money was very important to my achieving my educational dreams, both as an undergraduate and graduate.”
Stamm is responsible for launching the Spring Into Action scholarship campaign in 2009 that has resulted in over 300 full-tuition scholarships for new and returning students.
Stamm graduated from Northwestern University in 1973 with a political science degree, and earned her masters at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In 1974, she received a degree in International Law and Finance.
Throughout Stamm’s many achievements and successes, she still manages to stay humble.
“I was a scholarship kid, but I did not have anything near some of the challenges these students face,” she said. “So, if we can help them achieve their dreams, as I did mine, that is what it is all about.”
