The decision to cancel the New York City Marathon was absolutely the right one.
We have just experienced the worst storm ever to strike our area, with injuries and loss of lives and enormous property damage. There are still hundreds of thousands of people without electricity and our shorefront areas have been destroyed.
Common sense finally prevailed, and Mayor Bloomberg realized to race this year would not be favorably looked upon.
Sincerely,
John Amato
