Dear Editor,

Regarding your editorial in the April 25th issue, "Green New Deal for all but de Blasio,” our mayor's daily 11-mile trip from Gracie Mansion to Park Slope is

just one example of hypocrisy.

His frequent flier miles are a worse affront to his claims of environmental purity. He made 70 trips outside of New York City since taking office in 2014. Jet fuel is a major source of carbon dioxide pollution.

Places like Albany and Washington, D.C., are valid to get legislative and financial support. But not Germany, Italy, Texas, California, Iowa and other sites on his ego trip itinerary.

De Blasio says working out at the Park Slope YMCA is his way "of staying connected to where I'm from."

Staying on the ground instead of 35,000 feet above it is much better way to stay connected.

Sincerely,

Richard Reif
