This past Memorial Day, I was saddened that on my block the only American Flag flying was my own. June 14th is flag day and I hope more flags will be flying.
The American Flag was originally adopted by a resolution of the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. Flag Day wasn't recognized until proposed by Congress and signed by President Harry Truman in 1949.
So let's fly the flag out of respect for all who have given their lives for our nation, as well as our brave men and women in the military serving and protecting our nation.
Flying the American flag reminds us that we can prevail against any adversity.
