Dear Editor

Benjamin Fang's May 17th article "June event to promote Flushing" was 22 years off the mark in his lede. The World's Fair occurred in 1939, not 1917.

It's theme was "The World of Tomorrow," hence the new promotional campaign's title "Exploring the World of Tomorrow." Some of 1939's wonders introduced at that fair are even more relevant now, like television and robotics.

But the poverty and pollution-free environment showcased in General

Motors' Futurama exhibit 78 years ago is still far from reality. The real world is much worse today.
