It is hard to discern in Mr. Manago's April 16th letter "Briarwood Blues in F" if he is for or against an MTA decision to change the name of the F line and evening E subway station from "Briarwood-Van Wyck" to merely state what it is: Briarwood.
"Van Wyck Blvd" has not existed for far over a half century and it's confusion with other stations legitimately bearing the name "Van Wyck" has been a constant source of confusion to subway riders.
It is hard to say through Mr. Manago's Letter, so riddled with exaggerations, sarcasm and innuendo, if indeed he is for or against an incisive and accurate abbreviation of the station's name to only "Briarwood," which it is and is preferred by the majority of residents in the neighborhood, as well as the Briarwood Community Association.
One clue, judging from past letters, can be ascertained: If Tony Avella and David Weprin are for it, Mr. Manago is against it. It may possibly be their party affiliation with those "Democratic political bedbugs…in Albany".
