The improved park will have new paved areas, upgraded playground and spray shower, and more green space.
According to parks officials, construction began in May and is expected to be completed by April 2018.
“We look forward to reopening the park next spring complete with upgraded play equipment, a fun spray shower feature and a more welcoming entrance,” Silver said, “bringing to fruition the community’s vision for this space.”
Borough President Katz, who allocated $1 million, noted the “comprehensive input” from the community that shaped the scope of the project. Other amenities at the park include benches, game tables, swings adult exercise equipment, and drinking fountains.
The construction will provide new asphalt and concrete pavements. New trees will be planted in addition to a new shaded lawn.
“Big Bush Park is a great place in Woodside to sit outside with family and friends, play sports and get some fresh air,” said Councilman Van Bramer, who allocated $800,000 for the project. “I look forward to returning next spring to open a park the residents of Woodside can be proud of and that will be enjoyed for years to come.”
