Now that the elections are over, the question is what policies the Federal government should follow for the next two years.
The most important goal must be that the accomplishments of the past two years not be undermined.
We have a booming economy and rising wages, resting on a foundation of lower taxes, deregulation, and cheaper energy. That must be protected.
Respect for the law is being restored, with illegal immigrants being identified and deported. That must not be undermined.
The fight against anti-American terrorists is being carried on effectively, both in their foreign bases and along our borders and within our territory. Our safety must not be compromised.
The US Constitution is being protected by Federal judges with a faithful respect for what it says, as defined by the actual text and by those who wrote and ratified it. That must continue.
Whether bipartisan cooperation is possible will depend on whether liberals want to reinforce these accomplishments or roll them back.
