City hosts martial arts competition

Competitors aged 6 to 17 had the opportunity to show off their martial arts skills as they competed in forms and sparring at the fifth annual “Challenge of Champions” martial arts tournament at the Al Oerter Recreation Center in Flushing on Sunday.

Participants came from a variety of martial arts styles, including Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu.

As part of the program, world champion martial arts fighter Jadi Tenton spoke to the children about the benefits of participating in sports and leading a healthy, active lifestyle.
