Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley is under a bit of heat for not opening up a district office yet. For those who are counting, it's been more than 45 days since she is officially in office and more than three months since she won election in the 30th Council District, which primarily covers Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale, Ridgewood and Woodhaven. While briefly using the Metropolitan Avenue offices of former Republican Council members Gallagher and Anthony Como is a mortal sin to some Democratic Party hard liners, not having an office is apparently preferable.

While it's okay to take your time designing the perfect office, this pol must remember that she has to run in November to get reelected to the seat. So in a few short months she will be on the campaign trail again, and with Obama not on the ticket plus the strong possibility of the ever-popular Mike Bloomberg on the Republican line for mayor, that new well-designed office might just be temporary.

Now, it is true that she gave out business cards at the last community board meeting in Middle Village with 64-77 Dry Harbor Road as her new address. We know we can’t wait to get in and see those fancy digs.
