Italy's cultural ministry has approved 80 million euros worth of investments in heritage sites such as the Colosseum, pictured here in July, 2015Italy has earmarked over 18 million euros to rebuild the arena floor in the Colosseum where gladiators once fought wild beasts, Culture Minister Dario Franceschini said Tuesday. "A promise kept: the Colosseum will have its arena once more. Plan for reconstruction financed," he said on Twitter after announcing 18.5 million euros ($20.2 million) for a refurbishment which could see the ancient space host modern day cultural events.

The US Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday it has approved the first drug made with a 3-D printer -- pills for treating epilepsyThe Ohio-based company Aprecia Pharmaceuticals said its system can produce doses of up to 1,000 mg per tablet. It said the product is a "porous formulation" that dissolves with just a sip of liquid, making it convenient for people who have trouble swallowing pills or for getting children to take medication. FDA spokeswoman Sandy Walsh confirmed to AFP that the medication known as Spritam is the first made with a 3-D printer that the agency has approved.
