The rapid action reflected growing Italian concern about weak cooperation on security matters in the European Union after a spate of deadly attacks -- in France, Belgium and now Germany. "What happened in Nice, and in a sense also what happened in Munich, only reinforces what I am saying: that we need to focus everything on prevention and share all useful information," said Claudio Galzerano, a senior official with Italian anti-terrorism police in charge of international cooperation.

Special police forces block the street near a refugee shelter where a Syrian migrant who set off an explosive device near an open-air music festival had stayed, on July 25, 2016 in AnsbachGermany warned Monday of a potential backlash against migrants after a Syrian asylum seeker blew himself up outside a music festival, capping a week of attacks that has shaken the country. The 27-year-old attacker wounded more than a dozen people in the southern city of Ansbach Sunday night and had spent time in a psychiatric facility, regional authorities said. Europe's economic powerhouse was already reeling after nine people died in a shopping centre shooting rampage in Munich on Friday and four people were wounded in an axe attack on a train in Wuerzburg on July 18.
