One Building. Fifty-five Floors. Every Second Counts.
Join the American Lung Association on Saturday, February 9, 2013 and compete in a challenge unlike any other! Whether you are looking to score a winning time or are just hoping to jumpstart a new fitness regimen, there is a spot for you at the starting line.
The 3rd annual Fight For Air Climb: NYC stair climb is a fundraising event directly hosted by the American Lung Association. This “vertical marathon” will allow participants from New York and surrounding areas to race, run, or walk up 55 floors inside One Penn Plaza. Racers and elite runners will climb first, followed by walking participants. Finally, firefighters from all over New England will climb the 1,210 stairs in FULL GEAR. This unique event is one that will surely challenge both muscles and lungs.
Following the event there will be an After Party and Award Presentation at Luggo Caffe with drink specials and complimentary appetizers. Medals will be presented to highest fundraisers, fastest competitors, and largest teams.
Proceeds from the event support the mission of the American Lung Association, to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. Lung disease is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. Your support helps the American Lung Association in the fight for air, so that all can enjoy long, healthy lives. With lung disease on the rise, we are fighting for research that will find a cure for tomorrow. We are fighting for those who can't quit smoking and those who shouldn't start. We are fighting for lungs that burn from exercise rather than from ozone. We are fighting for asthma education to stop children from dying from asthma attacks. We are fighting for laws that improve air quality both inside and out. And we won't breathe easy until we win the fight!
