The real insult

Dear Editor:

I must reply to Alfred Waddell, whose letter about impeachment of President Obama appeared in this paper on August 21. Mr. Waddell claims taking such action would insult the intelligence of those who voted for Obama.

Alfred, Mr. Obama won with 51 percent of the vote, certainly no landslide. Of that 51 percent, a large number voted for purely racial or cultural reasons. Another large chunk of that 51 percent voted to continue the free goodies they get.

Certainly no one is going to vote Republican when the Democrats give them free medical care, subsidized rent, bilingual programs, public housing, free tuition, welfare, and all the other freebies they don't pay a nickel for.

Instead of citizens electing a president based on issues such as jobs, taxes, security, freedoms, environment, or immigration, we have become citizens voting based on culture, race and greed.

That, I believe, is more of an insult to the integrity of this nation than possible impeachment of a president; an impeachment that has very little chance of ever becoming a reality.

Sincerely,

Edward Riecks
