LIC Partnership is hosting the May 17th event and welcoming those from all across New York to come appreciate the neighborhood through free music performances, art displays, food vendors and activities for all ages.
The block party is on the same day as the LIC Arts Open Festival and the LIC Flea & Food Market, giving residents and visitors many options to spend their Saturday. The block party will be held on Vernon Boulevard from 46th to 50th avenues from 1 to 6 p.m.
Elizabeth Lusskin, president of the LIC Partnership, spoke about her excitement and importance of the event.
“Together these events show that there is something for everyone in Long Island City, and should draw New Yorkers of all ages to LIC,” Lusskin said. “Arts, culture, lively performances, activities for kids, and of course, a cornucopia of culinary options – and all from local participants.”
Co-sponsor TF Cornerstone made the large-scale event possible, which includes a main stage for musical performances and a series of vendors. The company owns residential property throughout Astoria and LIC.
Sofia Estevez, executive vice president of TF Cornerstone, also spoke about what the block party means to the neighborhood.
“They are great opportunities for area residents as well as visitors to the neighborhood to soak up some sun while exploring the many eclectic activities that LIC has to offer,” Estevez said.
