In answer to Manhattan’s annual restaurant week, the Grand Street BID will be hosting its own celebration of local cuisine, with 14 local restaurants offering affordable specials from Feb. 17 – 23.

Artineh Havan, executive director of the Grand Street BID, said a colleague of hers at another BID held a similar event and it was successful. Therefore, she and her fellow business leaders felt it was a good idea to give it a go.

Participating restaurants include Bahia, Café Chillo, Curry Heaven, Dar 525, Desy’s Clam Bar, Grand Morelos, Lily Thai, Los Primos, Mahzen Grill, Ooba, The Grand Bar and Grill, The Sandwich Shop, William & Bailey and The Willburg Café.

Menus have been posted to the Grand Street BID’s web page, and from the traditional Italian food of Desy’s Clam Bar to the Salvadoran and Latin American offerings of Bahia, the Grand Street restaurant week is sure to have a little something for everyone.

“We have a lot of great restaurants on Grand Street,” Havan said. “A lot of the focus these days is on North and South Williamsburg, but we want to highlight the really great eclectic treats here in East Williamsburg.”

The restaurants will be offering up samples of their widely-varied cuisines at two price points, with two-course lunch specials priced at $10 and three-course dinners for $25 per person.

“A couple of the restaurants wanted to do it cheaper, so they are throwing in drinks or a glass of wine since their price points are a little lower,” Havan said. “But it’s a really great price [and] you can probably eat seven days at half of the restaurants.”
