Owners of the men’s clothing store have been tenants for the last eight years, and recently signed the lease to stay for another eight with Muss Development LLC, owners of the mixed-use property just off 70th Avenue.
“Forest Hills is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Queens, and our mixed-use property at 70-00 Austin Street continues to attract and retain a diversity of office and retail tenants that serve the community,” said Muss Development Principal Jason Muss.
Other businesses in the fully occupied building include Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Eddie Bauer and TGI Friday’s.
The newly added Allen Health Care now takes up a 16,215-square-foot space on the second floor of the building, and Bilinguals Inc., a bilingual and English service company for children, just signed a 12-year agreement for its 15,390-square-foot space. Combined, the two companies recently contributed 50 jobs to the building and Forest Hills.
Jeffrey Kay, chief operating officer at Muss Development, said the thriving foot traffic and business community in Forest Hills is the real reason why companies like Men’s Wearhouse have stayed so long.
“Austin Street has become one of those really great stops that people from all over want to go to,” Kay said. “People really do want to come to Forest Hills to go shopping and the food here is phenomenal.”
He added that the building’s close proximity to Queens Boulevard, the E, F, M and R subways, the LIRR, buses and a 300-car parking is also a draw for shoppers.
Muss Development has been in Forest Hills for the last 30 years, with their home base at the Forest Hills Towers, a 16-floor building at the corner of Union Turnpike and Queens Boulevard.
