Branch manager Richard Ritchie initiated the student contest.
“We asked a teacher to have all the students draw some pictures, and then they selected the top 15 to be posted in the bank,” said Ritchie. “Every time a customer comes in, we ask them to vote for the pictures. We have the names on the back so nobody knows who drew what.”
The drawings will be on display throughout the month of December, at the end of which the winners will be announced.
“It’s on a point system, we ask everybody to vote for three pictures,” explained Ritchie. “First place is three points, second place is two points and third place is one point. At the end of the contest, we’re going to tally up all the numbers and add up the points.”
At that point, each of the winning students will receive prize money for their drawings, and the winners will remain on display to be enjoyed by the bank’s clientele.
“We’re going to put a ribbon on each picture that wins a prize and then we’ll keep it displayed for another two weeks,” Ritchie said. “We’re going to give first place $100, second place $75, third place would be $50.
“What we need is a little help, because we don’t want to have just 15 entries in the box,” said Ritchie. “We’d like to get as many people into the branch to vote. Take a couple of minutes to vote for these kids.”
