LaGuardia Community College is offering a free training program for people who are interested in

becoming community health workers.  To learn about the program, the college is offering an information session on July 23.

These public health professionals help bridge gaps between different populations and healthcare or social service systems by providing outreach, basic health education, referrals and follow-up service, case

management, advocacy and home visiting services.

Applicants must be at least 24 years of age, unemployed or underemployed, have a high school diploma or GED and have the ability to read and write in English.  Being bilingual is a plus.

The training, which begins September 3, will take place at the college, located at 31-10 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City.  The class is taught in English. First come, first served.

For more information or to schedule an assessment test and interview, please call (718) 482-5334.
