Activist and former Brooklyn Community Board 1 member Teri Muroff will be remembered with a memorial party and celebration of her life at the Oak Ridge House, located at 1 Forest Park Dr., on Saturday, June 15, from 1 to 7 p.m.

After moving from Greenpoint to Ridgewood, Muroff joined the Ridgewood Reservoir Highland Park Education and Conservation Project, where she worked to protect the natural beauty of the Highland Park.

She was also a member of the District Council 9 New York IUPAT (DC9), Union of Painters and Allied Trades and recently worked with DC9 to coordinate a fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Muroff and husband Robert Meyer met while attending Pratt University in Brooklyn in 1986, and were married five years ago with a Coney Island wedding the city will always remember.

“We were really trying to get married and she was always looking at wedding halls, so one day I just said, ‘Let’s get married on the Cyclone,’” Meyer said. “And that was just like her though, I would open my stupid mouth and she would make it happen.”
