Likewise, in the last two weeks, three victims say they were robbed at knifepoint near area train stations.
Last week, during the 112th Police Precinct Community Council meeting, Captain Thomas Conforti honored four policemen with the Cop of the Month Award for their work in nabbing two criminals, one believed to be behind the knifepoint robberies.
Officers Kieran Tracy and partner Frank Nappi, along with Christopher Lipton and partner Ronald Scrimenti, were awarded for playing a big part in capturing two dangerous criminals who have also disrupted the serenity of our neighborhood.
While on patrol in plain clothes, Scrimenti and Lipton saw the suspect roaming around the area, and stopped him for investigation. To their surprise, they found a nine-inch knife on the suspect, which they believe he used in all three robbers.
The officers also found a significant amount of cash.
Meanwhile, while on midnight patrol on March 14, Nappi and Tracy saw two people acting suspicious in an alleyway and immediately approached. They later discovered a crowbar underneath one of their jackets.
Following further investigation, it was revealed that the two suspicious men were actually in the process of breaking into a garage at the time of the arrest.
They were both arrested for attempted burglary.
